PKL is an abbreviation of Pedagang Kaki Lima or Street Vendor, meanwhile Pekambingan is an area of Dauh Puri Village in Denpasar City. In Pekambingan area, there are shopping areas named Kertha Wijaya and Diponegoro Megah. There are street vendors in both areas, therefore we named it PKL Pekambingan. The PKL sell Indonesian food such as batagor, sate ayam (chicken satay), martabak, mie ayam (chicken noodle), tahu (tofu), ayam bakar taliwang (taliwang grilled chicken), pisang goreng (fried banana), and bakso. Some of the PKL sell beverage such as soft drink, coffee, ice fruit and dawet. They exist from 09.00 am to 15.00 pm for morning shift and from 15.00 pm to 23.00 for evening shift.
As seen in the picture below, the PKL sell food and beverage in front of the closing shop. If the shop is open, they should obtain a permission from the shop owner. If the owner disagree, they should go and find another place...............

Once a month, all of the PKL work together cleaning and sweeping Kertha Wijaya and Diponegoro Megah area supervised by the Pecalang Tri Jaga Mandala and Kelurahan Dauh Puri (the local / village goverment of Dauh Puri). None of the PKL dare to disobey this order. For them, it is a must to clean and sweep the area. If they don't obey this order, the pecalang will kick them off. They will not permitted to sell at Pekambingan anymore! Well, I think it is no problem to clean and sweep the area only once a month.....
Usually after cleaning and sweeping at the moment, they have a meeting with pecalang and Lurah (the Head of Village) at Village Office. On September 14, 2008, they agree to use Orange Uniform for Monday and Tuesday, Green Uniform for Wednesday and Thursday, Orange Uniform again for Friday and Saturday. Free uniform for Sunday.

Some people said the stationary PKL locations provide traffic jam at Kertha Wijaya shoppping area because of the uses of parking space and interfere pedestrian, while other said they need it to find inexpensive food and beverage. Humm.......
In my opinion, it is not wise to remove the PKL. Lot of them must fulfill their family needs such as food, cloth, school for their children and anything else. The economy condition enforces them to work as PKL. It is a hard work to do. Only the stationary PKL location at Block D of Kertha Wijaya shopping area should be relocated to another area. They should not bring their own table and plastic chair nor place it on pedestrian area. They should sell take-out food or beverage not to dine at location. What is your opinion.
